MetaMask, a popular Ethereum wallet and browser extension, recently experienced a cyber-security incident that resulted in unauthorized access to some users’ email addresses.
Parent company ConsenSys announced that the incident affected users who submitted a customer support ticket between August 1, 2021, and February 10, 2023.

The incident involved a third-party provider’s computer system that was used to process customer service requests. While no personally identifying information was requested other than email addresses, some users may have used a “free text-field” to provide additional personal information.
ConsenSys estimates that up to 7,000 MetaMask users may have been affected by the breach. The company has taken steps to prevent unauthorized access in the future and has reported the incident to relevant authorities.
